Baden 109th Leib Infantry One Year Volunteer Pickelhaube

Baden Private purchase or "Einjahr Freiwilliger" Pickelhaube for "Leib Grenadier Regiment No. 109" - Model 1897. Fine black lacquered leather helmet body with silver metal trim. Helmet body has good form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is well preserved and shows only some minor crazing, overall the shell is in excellent condition (see photos). All silver trim (besides the chinscales). The interior has fine sweat leather and silk headliner. A Letter "H" painted on silk indicates possibly the wearer...later owner! Name is also penciled inside shell.
Interior visors are without lining as is proper for NCO helmets. TNo extra holes behind frontplate (see photo). The fontplate is a silver wide winged Baden Griffen with the finely stamped Baden House Order on the breast. The Baden Bandeau at the base with "Mit Gott F. Fuerst U. Vaterland". Officer style silver detachable spike and base without perlring and four silver brads with screw. The spike unscrews for replacement with a plume for parade. Flat gold Officer chinscales on M1891 Posts. NCO style 2- piece Reich and Officers Baden cockades. All original 109th Leib Grenadier helmet in overall Excellent condition. Rare and Elite regiment.
