French Cuirassier Officer Model 1872/74 Helmet
Nice and untouched Officers Helmet
Metal helmet body that retains its original nickeling. Fire Git brass Bandeau with Laurel leaves and the flaming grenade in it center. The top Cimier has the medusa head on the frontal part surrounded with interlacing snakes. Original Black Horse mane. Front of cimer has the "Marmouset" (red brush) for Cuirassier Officer. The chinscales are the fancy "Laurel Leaves" type stamped in gilt brass and mounted on Velour.
A "Marguerite" Model 1874 holds the chinstrap to the helmet body with a bayonet type key system. Inner liner of full officers grade with the gilt "Doré au Fer" pattern. Both front and back visors retain there original thin leather linings (back shows some wear, see photos). A Colonel (or the remains of) "Aigrette" or plumet remains with the Helmet on its left side.
