Mecklenburg Schwerin Enlisted Infantry Pickelhaube
100% Original with War Damage - Named.
Survivor of the August 1914 campaign. Mecklenburg Schwerin 89th/90th Regiments Enlisted Man Model 1895. Literally out of the woodwork. Black lacquered leather EM with Brass metal trim. The helmet is unique as it has a schrapnel hole that goes through the leather chinstrap before piercing the helmet body (please note photos). Overall helmet is in excellent condition, bright leather lacquer and fine pre-war quality all original metal trim. Front and back visors have firm stitching. Owner/wearer's name written inside Back Visor "
The frontplate is the Mecklenburg Schwerin brass rising star and silver centerpiece with the arms of Mecklenburg Schwerin. The frontplate held to helmet with leather wedges. Round spike base with non-removable fluted EM spike specific to this unit. Original leather interior liner. Original leather chinstrap (in poor condition as torn in two spot...but we left as is) and ORIGINAL EM style Reichs cockade. Very rare piece Especially since the helmet displays actual wartime damage.
Very rare.
