Prussian 16th Dragoon Enlisted/NCO Pattern Pickelhaube

Hanoverian 16th Dragoon

Hanoverian 16th Dragoon Regiment (Hanoverian Dragoon Regiment) Enlisted Man Model after January 24, 1899. But we feel was used in the 1930’3 as a Veteran Club piece. This is a very unusual helmet that is “as found” from a collection that dates back to the 1950’s.
Heavy black lacquered leather helmet body with bright silver trim. The helmet body remains in excellent shape and form. Square front visor trim with firm stitching. Exterior lacquer retains its glossy finish. Silver spike base with regulation pearlring maintained by 4 round brads retained by nuts. Smooth removable officer style spike. The Frontplate is the post-January 24, 1899 Enlisted Hanoverian Dragoon Eagle with the banner “Waterloo” to commemorate this regiments service in the Kings German Legion during the Napoleonic Wars. We believe the frontplate is a genuine EM piece circa 1900. The helmet body does NOT have grommeted holes for the frontplate. The frontplate is held to the body with leather wedges. Inside has the original black dyed leather lining in excellent condition. A custom set of convex M1895 rounded chinscales over original EM cockades (see photo).
Age of Kings feels that this helmet is not an original piece. Such helmets were commonly used during the 1920’s and 30’s for Veteran Organizations. This is why the frontplate is original to 1900. Otherwise, it is a very attractive helmet. Bargain priced
