Baden 109th Leib Infantry Officer Pickelhaube
Rare and Elite regiment
Baden Officer for the Leib Grenadier Regiment No. 109 - Model 1897. Fine black lacquered leather helmet body with silver metal trim. Helmet body has good form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer shows some surface lacquer crazing but is overall in excellent condition (see photos). Helmet contour is flat which indicates use in the 1890's. The interior has fine sweat leather and silk headliner.
Interior visors are red and green as is proper for an officer helmet. There is one small hole behind frontplate but has not been used for anything (see photo). The fontplate is a silver wide Baden Griffen with the fine enameled Baden House Order in the breast. The red enamel has some small damage (see photos) but it is negligible. Officer style silver spike and base with gold star screw. The spike unscrews for replacement with a plume for parade. Flat gold colored Officer chinscales on silver rosettes. Officer style 2- piece Reich and Baden cockades. All original 109th Leib Grenadier Officer helmet in overall very nice condition. Rare and Elite regiment.
