Prussian garde Field Artillery Officers Pickelhaube to Parade
Perfect centerpiece for a fine helmet collection
Prussian Officer with Black Yak hair parade plume for either Guard Field Artillery or Guard Train Regiments (both units wore rounded chinscales) - Model 1897. Beautiful and impressive helmet. Black lacquered leather helmet body with fine fire gilt metal trim. The helmet body has an elegant form and firm stitching. The exterior black lacquered has some scratches and lacquer loss on the left side of the helmet (see photos). There are no extra holes in helmet body, The frontplate is the Prussian Guards Eagle with a vaulted Black Eagle Order star on the eagle's breast. The frontplate has left a deep impression in the helmet body as evidenced in photos.
Gilded round spike base with star retainers. On the spike base is placed a tall plume trichter and very full black Yak Hair plume. The helmet interior has very fine sweat leather and silk headliner. Inner visors red and green as is normal for officer helmets. The back visor there is a rough edge due to wear (see photo). Rounded gold chinscales on gold rosettes. The rounded chinscales were worn by both the Guard Field Artillery and the Guard Train regiments. Since the helmet has a plume instead of a ball or spike we cannot ascertain which unit this helmet is from. Officer Reichs and Prussian cockades. This is a beautiful helmet from the prestigious Prussian Guards regiments. Perfect centerpiece for a fine helmet collection.
