Prussian / Nassau 88th Infantry Regiment Officers Pickelhaube

Prussian - Nassau 88th Infantry Regiments (2nd Nassau Infantry Regiment - headquartered in Mainz and Hanau) Officer Model 1897-1899. Black lacquered leather helmet body with gilded brass trim. The helmet body in also in near mint condition with firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is in near perfect condition with a shiny exterior finish. There are no extra holes in the helmet body .

The frontplate is the Prussian Line Eagle with the battle honors “LaBelle Alliance - Mesa del Ibor- Medellin” for service during the Napoleonic Wars with the British Kings German Legion.

The helmet interior has sweat leather and silk headliner. The silk headliner is in excellent condition but is dirty from use (see interior photos). Gilt Officer style round spike and base. Gold stars secure the spike base to helmet body. Flat style chinscales on gold rosettes. Standard Reichs and Prussian officer cockades. All original and rare regimental helmet.
