Prussian Pioneer Officer Pickelhaube

Great period helmet. Bargain Priced

Prussian Pioneer Battalion Officer circa 1890. From the New England Collection. Black lacquered leather helmet body with German silver trim. The helmet body is in very good condition with firm stitching. No lacquer loss. No extra holes in the helmet body. The frontplate is the Prussian Line Officers Eagle with silver frosting. The frontplate is mounted to helmet body with nuts and bolts. Small period repair to scepter on back of the plate ( see photos). Tall silver Officers Spike that is not removable.

Round base held by 4 gilt stars holding the base to the helmet. Green and Red lined front and back visors respectively. The interior liner of the helmet is the older officer style leather liner with flat tabs. The leather liner is complete and in excellent condition. Flat gilt chinscales held by Silver rosettes. Officers Prussian Cockade. The Reichs cockade was not used until the late 1890’s. A very nice helmet overall All original and uncleaned great period piece at a bargain price
