Hessen 23 or 24 Enlisted / NCO Dragoon Pickelhaube

Hessen 23rd or 24 Dragoon Regiment NCO Model 1897. Recently acquired from and old New England Collection. Fine black lacquered leather helmet with German Silver fittings. Helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. No extra holes in helmet body. The exterior lacquer is smooth with no lacquer loss or crazing. The frontplate is the Hessen Lion fixed to the helmet body with screw and nut. Hessen style cross base with fluted spike that unscrews on the top, The spike base is maintained to the helmet by round brads. Rounded silver chinscales on screw post rosettes. Large NCO style Reichs and non-Serrated cockades. Near MINT and RARE all original Hessen helmet Dragoon NCO helmet.
